Dear family, neighbors, crazy people, Today is a sad day because in the obit in the paper this morning I read the name of a good friend that had just died. He has been in a wheelchair for quite awhile but its sad to lose a good friend, His name was Ervin Crosbie and I've known him for quite a few years. As I know too well life goes on. My deepest sympatheys to his wife and family. On a brighter note my Granddaughter who has been waiting for a visa to come through to Brazil came through and soon she will be in the mission field in Brazil. Way to go Tiff. I'm so happy for you, Her younger brother is on his mission in France and has been for a year. Here at Terrace Grove we are waiting with baited breath for the new year to dawn. Really another day among days. What surprizes can it bring. I don't mean to be cynical. I love all of you and wish the best for everyone in the New Year.Love one another and Keep Smiling, Grandpa, Dad,

arts adventures

Dear Crazy people, friends,& Family,Its time to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, This last week or so has been one of those weeks that one would like to forget at least part of. suffice to say I've been to the hospital at midnight to the emergency room iching all over as with hives only no hives,I've had my blood tested three or four times and taken tranuillizers and benidrill and still don't know exactely what is wrong with me but at least I feel a little better. I also have been privilliged to have been to two great programs, First last Sat afternoon my Son Scott got tickets to a Christmas Concert at the Kent Concert hall at U.S.U. put on by Craig Jessop and the music Dept at Utah state. They must have had at least 300 singers, Members of the orchestra, Dancers, Bell Ringers from the local Prespateriian church. All in all it was a great Christmas progam. Such wonderful singing and playing, & dancing. And then to add to the enjoyment of the Christmas season,Yesterday morning Michael Ballam and his family came and upstairs gave a program of Christmas caroles and songs, He really is quite a showman in addition to being agreat singer and musician and he really has a talented family. His oldest girl has a most beautiful voice and the other kids are almost as good. I must say I'm almost feeling better. Then sunday afternoon we had our family Christmas Party which was great. What a blessing a family is. As my oldest boy Kim says Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren are the greatest things anywhere. To all of you friends, neighbors, Familys, and Crazy people I love all of you and wish you all the very best of a merry Christmas and a Happy New year.

artadventures

Dear crazy people and friends & family, last night the Providence 10th ward Young women came here to Terrace Grove and put on a show for we inmates. I still can't believe the amount of talent in a ward Young Womens organization and the number of kids partisapating. they had girls from Bee hive age on up playing violins, chellos, piano, also piano duets, violin & chello, sister dancing, tumbling, singing, about any thing you can think of. Suffice to say it was a great evening We even sang Christmas carols. Or croked in some of our cases. During the night we got another invh of snow and it got to about 5 below or so the news said. Today its cold and cloudy. Breakfast was Bacon, Sauage, eggs, toast, prunes if you wanted them juice, orange, peach, hot, choclate, & water. As far as I'm concerned, Breakfast is the best meal of the day. I don't really have much appitite but I do enjoy Breakfast. I realize that I,m rambling on but such is the life of an older infirm resident. It isn't the way I would have wished for but this is the way the good lord wanted it to be at this time , Im grateful for my testimony of Jesus Christ and the Gospel of Jesus Christ,& that we have a Prophet to guide us in the person of Thomas Monsen. I Love my family, & Friends & All the other crazy people I come in contact with. See you later Love one another and help each other.

Arts Adventures

Dear Crazy people and friends another day in the life & times of Art. Today I together with Kim My oldest son went up to my house at 11:30 A .M. and got my Car. I drove my car down to wilson motor and kim followed me in his car. I had an appointment to have the car serviced and inspected for the new year so I can get a new licence due in January. We left the car and Kim & I went to Burger king for a hamburger & fries & a diet coke. We then came back to Terrace Grove and visited until 1:15 P.M. when Lynette the Service manager called & told me the car was ready. We then went up, got the car & paid the bill and back up home and put the car in the garage, oh by the way while at Burger King, Dave Rose came in together with his sister and her husband and Daves Mother and her husband. Its a regular thing for them almost every day. Mae & I used to see them every time we went there. Dave used to teach at the middle School here in town. I don't know whether he still does or not. He and Martha, his former wife used to live in the Twenty Third Ward when we were in that Ward years ago. 1990 to be exact. To all those who are interested we have about 4 inches of snow with more to come and colder than old Billy, as they used to say. It was an enjoyable day being with Kim,matbe not interesting to everybody, but very much so to me.Be Happy and kind to those you come in contact with. To all my children, Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, friends & neighbors, I love you all.

Hydepark . Logan down main street to Center to see the cache county courthose all decorated up, the nativity scene on tabernacle squsre to center street to Ist west north to 2nd North west to 2 west noth to Teracce Grove and end of the line. The night Art began his adventures...

When I first came up with the idea of the blog I told him I would bring my camera and we could take pictures everytime we did a post. He wasn't too excited when I actually did it! I wonder if he is regretting that I know his password:)
Dear crazy people, tonight at 6:15 P.M. the Towne singers a local choral group came and sung for the residents of Terrace Grove Christmas songs, It was really good and they have been together for 40 years. The leader name is Eldon Curtis and his daughter plays for them . a note of history, Patricia, our oldest daughter took piano lessons from Eldon many years ago. Its a small world. I even got them to sing a verse of Silent Night in closing. Joylene Koyman sings with them and she is a friend of Scott & Patty and her husband is the mayor of Hyde Park until January. Also a friend of Kim sings with them but I can't remember his name. Bedtime, more later.
Dear family & Friends, Amy Lou got me started so to all the crazy people I just wanted to know that I love all of you and I will try to keep you informed of my limited activities. I got up this morning at 4:30 A.M. I could'nt sleep any longer, got dressed and took my many pills and etc and then shaved washed my face and hands and mixed up the every day dose of miralax and took my walker and walked up and down the hall two times which is 150 of my limited strides which I caculate to be about 200 feet long, give or take, then I came back into my apt and sat down in my big chair to wait for breakfast at 7:30 A.M. I am reading a book called the Stalker which is as weird as it sounds, it is by Faye Kellerman if anyone wants to read it. In the course of reading it I promptly went to sleep and one of the aides came and woke me up at 8:00 A.M so I hurried up to breakfast a half an hour late but I did get fed. I came back after being kidded about being a sleepy head by my four eating companions who have become good friends The oldest is a fellow who is 95 the next is a lady from Virginia who is 88 Sorry its time for Lunch more later

Things I am Thankful for at this moment in my life:

My wonderful grandaughter AmyLou....who is twisting my arm and making me do this.

The rest of my family

I am grateful that my wife didn't have to suffer any longer than she did
and the fact that I was able to have her for 63 + years.

I would be grateful for inspiration right at this moment.

Microwaves that warm the cold food from the cafeteria.

Heaters!

Young women and young men from the Bridgerland 3rd ward who came and sang carols to me and all of the other residents last night.

My meal partners(inmates in crime.)

I am thankful that I am younger than Jim Morgan and Keith Spencer who are 94 and 95. Jim still walks around the big block. I am thankful I can walk around the little block!

The community hospital representative(Linda Clark) who came and talked to all of the residents about How to stay Young at Heart....Mae was her supervisor at the Logan Regional Hospital.
